The Differences between Colored Diamonds

Different colored diamonds are valued differently. Generally, the clearer the diamond the more expensive it is. can be colored using the aid of certain technologies. can be colored ranging from very pale and colorless to even brown while there are also some beautifully vibrant colored gems. To improve the value of a diamond, the manufacturers can use some methods to change its color. Sometimes the coatings that are put on a diamond to change its color are done in a sneaky way to fool a customer and are not usually permanent. Eventually the coating will disappear to reveal brown marks or yellow tints. Spots of ink can be painted onto the diamond and hidden under the mounted setting which make the diamond appear a lot paler than it actually is.

Naturally vibrantly colored diamonds are extremely expensive and not marketed towards the average person however using a treatment of irradiation can result in a more reasonably priced colored diamond. They may need to be cared for in set ways as the color may change in certain conditions. These colored make it easy for anyone to own a colorful and attractively unique gem although if a so called natural high colored diamond is selling

Evaluating Colored Diamonds

The quality of a diamond is based on its color, clarity, cut and carat weight. A diamond s color plays a major part in its value and popularity. White or colorless are the basis in which all other are compared. White are historically more popular than colored but naturally vibrantly colored are growing more popular in recent years. Most have yellowish tints and it is the quality of color that judges their price.

Colored are graded and the amount of color is identified using a lettering system. For example, D is used to describe completely colorless diamonds. D, E and F describes colorless diamonds, G, H, I and J are nearly colorless while K, L and M are slightly tinted with a yellow color. N, O, P, Q, R are lightly tinted with a yellow color while S  Z describes which are colored yellow or brown.
